So I know limerence is on average over in 3 years. I’m at the 4 year mark and have finally put in my notice at work with next Friday being my last day. This will be the true start to the end for me for this LE. I wish it was mutual and we do have a little texting here and there but mostly we have a work friendship which involves intimate and satisfying conversation over lunch 1-2x week. Once a year we go for a ride and eat together at a restaurant. We’ve never been physical at all. We’re both married and not looking to cheat- I’m just in limerence and we have great chemistry though I hold back so much because I’m managing my emotions and I fear his rejection.
How long until I can recover? I don’t plan on texting him after I leave . I might slide and I’m sure he’ll respond but he’s very different over text, he’s like an ice mountain. In person, he is much warmer. But I’ll lose that option. I doubt we’ll see each other more than once after I leave and I need to stop wanting him. It’s so painful and lonely.
Has anyone in this forum recovered or know the expected time frame? Is it 1-3 years? Or is there even data?
