I accept the term limerence for my 4 year obsessive infatuation that is nestled inside a flirtatious work friendship… but my former therapist rejected the term and just called jt “love”. I no longer am seeing that therapist because it was so invalidating to be told my intrusive thoughts are love, because I associate love with warmth and acceptance - and in my private thoughts my limerence is desperate and deep despair. I was reading today about R-OCD otherwise known as relationship OCD. What do fellow limerents think, could this be a more apt term and better understood by clinicians to treat it?
