Hey folks, I wanted to share my recent coming out experience with you all. It's been quite a rollercoaster, but I'm grateful for the opportunity to express myself and find support among friends.
I'm a 24yo cis guy living in a house that's co-owned by my mom and me. When I came out as bisexual to my mom, I never expected the intense reaction that followed. She has said hurtful things like "don't come home with AIDS," "you are disgusting," and even questioned my identity by saying "you are gay, you aren't bi." She also dropped things like „You chose to be gay“… It's been a challenging time, and her response was not what I had hoped for or expected.
Fortunately, on the bright side, my friends have been incredible. They've been understanding, accepting, and supportive throughout this journey. I was positively surprised!
Right now, I'm trying to spend as much time as possible away from my mom, focusing on enjoying my life with my partner. Although our relationship is in an "it's unclear" state, being with him brings me comfort and happiness.
Looking ahead, once I finish my current degree, I plan to search for work near my partner and friends, who are halfway across the country. I anticipate my mom may question why I don't visit her often, but I know that prioritizing my well-being and being close to those who support me is essential.
Thanks for taking the time to listen to my ramblings. It means a lot to have a community like this where I can share my experiences. If anyone has advice or similar stories to share, I'd love to hear them.
TL;DR: Came out as bi to my mom, got a negative reaction. Friends are supportive. Moving away soon.
