Asking for a friend: I have a 34-year-old friend who has high-functioning autism. She also has a job, a Bachelor's degree, working on her Master's degree, has 3 children who live with her full-time, her own vehicle, and her own house. Now, she has fallen unto hard times because of her husband abandoning her, and has asked her parents to pay a couple bills a few times these past few months and help with gas money. This woman takes care of herself and her kids, she is just struggling financially. Well, her parents have threatened to get conservativeship over her and is demanding to see her bank statements and making other demands. In the past, these people have been very physically abusive to her and tried to prevent her from graduating high school, getting a job, and even leaving the house. They want my friend to live off of disability and welfare and they treat her like she's a kid. They don't care about her feelings at all. Are they able to get conservativeship or anything like that over her?
