How bad is it to renew expired EAD after 4 years since expiration?

I had work back home and some savings, so I never really worked in the US or used my EAD.
My income was below the tax threshold so I didn’t file taxes either.
Past two years had lots of investments losses. I have prepared my 21 22 23 taxes but didn’t mail them yet.
Should I renew my EAD or submit my prior taxes first then renew my EAD?
