Post Body

My father (for whom no good personal relationship exists) was put in prison earlier this year in Florida. He is currently 57 and my sibling and I were wondering what happens to his retirement/SS accounts if he passes while in prison?

My sibling is under the impression that if he reaches retirement age while in prison, then we will get his retirement funds - otherwise it’ll go to the state. However, we suspect he won’t make it that long. Is there a was to claim/file for his retirement money?
