My son's father took our son for the weekend against my will. He said he had paperwork and would call the cops. Turns out he doesn't have any paperwork and I have sole custody of our son. When I called the cops they refused to help get my son back without a court order. Now it's Monday and I would usually get my son back, but he's refusing to give him back. My son is afraid of his father and didn't want to go with him in the first place. How do I get my son back? The police and sheriff say that it's a civil issue so they won't help. 1.) How is this not kidnapping? 2.) How can I get help getting my son back? We are in MN.
