Hello. Back in late 2022 I sold my junker car to my uncle for less than a grand. We never got around to transferring the title until later in 2023. However I have received a letter from a bill collector saying I owe the insurance company for an accident that occurred when the car was not in my possession but before the title was transferred.
My uncle is in agreement that he would like to take responsibility however we did not sign any formal bill of sale. The collectors say they will take the title or bill of sale as proof of responsibility. Would they accept the title as is or would I have to sign with my uncle indicating that it was sold and no longer in my possession? Please not that this occurred in Texas.
