So I took my car into a local shop that had good reviews. When I came in I knew it needed a catalytic converter so I brought in the part that I thought was for the car. He calls me back and says it’s the wrong part, so he orders the right part. Calls me back and says it’s ready. I go to the office and pay. $1300 roughly. I got to start the car up and immediately the whole car is shaking violently and sounds like the engine is falling apart. I’m livid. I go back in and they put it on rack and show me that they installed the part. I’m telling them the car is really messed up and they deny it saying they thought it sounded like that when I brought it in. I’m furious and don’t know what to do so I leave and take it to my buddys shop. Driving the car was terrifying. It had no acceleration and sounding like it was going to fall apart the entire time.
So what they did was replaced the wrong part, stole my original part and cut out my cat and replaced it with cheap tubing welded in.
I called the cops twice and they said take them to court and sue them, but then I also found out that it is a also a federal offense to take out someone’s cat.
What should I do?
