Hi all,
I recently set out to create a web app (OSX based, at least initially), that aims to connect musicians for a networked musical performance. I have found both audio and video tech out there that should be suitable for the low-latency requirements, and figure that what remains is crafting the app that integrates those platforms and a webpage that runs/downloads the app. There would be some standard functionality beyond connecting for the video session, such as accounts (connected via E-mail, maybe social media if that integration isn't too complex), session length restrictions, in-session ad banners, and a subscription option to do away with the two former. I feel this is the bare-bones for my minimal viable product, with the exception of maybe doing away with accounts/subscriptions should they be to much for my current capabilities/budget.
That being said, I am no professional web developer. I do however have an aptitude for learning these things in a timely manner, I've started the wire-framing process myself and it got me to thinking back to my ole' CompSci days in school, and wondering just what all would go into making the app itself since all the tech is already there. If the described app doesn't sound absolutely herculean as far as a determined novice is concerned, I would love it I can save my already minimal-of-minimal budget from going towards a development company, in case everything doesn't pan out. Does this sound reasonable, or should I bite that expensive bullet?
If I may go a step further, I don't know if what I described is enough to suss this out, but if anyone has any pointers as to specific languages, development frameworks, etc. to research and learn to create such an app, it would be greatly appreciated.
