I've been playing Dota since around 2014-2015, around there. A friend of mine who quit Dota is getting back into the swing of things, just as I am after roughly a 2 year break.
We're queuing ranked, and every game he mentions how hard the matches are. Not because the game is hard. But because the people in the games literally don't want to win.
I say this because of the following :
-They feel that they need to control every aspect of the game.
-They chastise calls that don't need chastising.
-They make rude comments and insult players whether what they did was wrong or not.
-instead of playing as part of the team they have a 1v10 mindset and it hurts the composition.
-They berate the supports for lack of vision (obs are free now, hello?)
-They refuse to listen and get continuously caught out ruining any lead, or opportunity for comeback mechanic.
-They feel it their obligation and right to harass female players, which leads to less overall communication.
None of these things are mechanically based reasons as to why a ranked team will lose. You know what my friend said? He asked me of this is what I deal with every time I play. When I confirmed, he said it's living hell.
The games aren't hard because of a skill level. They're hard because these people refuse to change their attitude and try to work together. If you're stuck in the "trench" it might just be because you're part of the problem.
The most I've ever climbed was when I was pma, and rooted on the team. We've pulled back unwinnable games because we didn't act like assholes.
Please think before you type, before you speak. Skill only goes so far.
