I've never really had to use commercial chargers before, despite having my Leaf for a few years now. However, this weekend I had to use them a few times and came a way a bit frustrated. I'm trying to figure out if this is normal or if I got ripped off.
First off, it was cold, below 30 degrees F, so if that matters, keep it in mind. I used 2 different charging stations, both run by the same company (EvGo). These were all on CHAdeMO 50kwh chargers.
The first location seemed pretty decent. Two separate sessions, for a total of 32 kwh over 54 minutes. Still a bit less than 50kwh for nearly an hour of total charge time, but not too terrible. The battery was at around 25% and 3% starting out.
The second location was terrible. First session, I started at 30%. It charged for an hour and got to 94% (25.5 kwh). The second time it was at about 83%, it added 6.7 kwh over another hour. It didn't even hit 100%, was at about 96% (6.7 kwh) when I stopped it.
Is it wrong to assume that a 50 kwh charger should be able to fill a leaf with a 40kwh battery in under an hour? I want to complain to EvGo but want to make sure I have the right expectations before doing so.
