Hello!
I'll be in the UK (I'm from the States) in November and have three nights free and alone before I plan to be in London. I've been thinking about spending them on the coast, specifically in Kent. My top choice of where to stay right now is Broadstairs. It seems very easy to get to from London, small and walkable, and beautiful. I'd love to visit Botany Bay while in the area as well.
Everyone I know from the UK is trying to convince me to go to Brighton instead. And Brighton seems great! I'd love to visit someday. But honestly I don't want to be in a bigger city for this little detour. I want somewhere small and sleepy and quiet to relax in. All I need is a coffee shop and a bed and a beach and I'll be happy. I know it's the off season and it will be cold and possibly rainy and that a lot of shops and restaurants won't be open, but that's perfectly okay with me.
I'd love to hear from some locals (or pseudo locals who've visited recently) what your favorite things to do in the area are, especially on the off season? I'd also love to hear if you think my plan is terrible to begin with... although admittedly you're not likely to deter me at this point :)
Thanks for your help!
Edit: If anyone wants to grab a coffee or a pint while I'm in town, I love getting to meet new folks wherever I travel, especially when I'm solo. I'm a woman in my early 30s if that impacts your decision haha.
