Does anyone ever get off their meds?

Lifelong insomniac, got the official diagnosis and started treatment last year.
I’ve been taking 50 mg trazadone and 5 mg melatonin (very light stuff, I’m lucky I know) every night and it’s working like a charm- but I want to know if I’ll ever be able to get off it and sleep naturally?
My doctor flat out told me that wasn’t likely but I want to hear from y’all, especially since I feel like the trazadone might be affecting my libido lol.
