What Size AC Do I Need?
Post Body

Hi there!

I just recently moved into an apartment with no A/C, and thought I could handle the weather with just fas - however, we are coming up on a week of 110 temperatures here in Portland Oregon, so I am admitting defeat.

The apartment is a one bedroom, closed floor plan, 695 square feet. The main room is about 14 x 28, the bedroom is 12 x 12. I have sliding windows, so no window units, and I am a price-motivated consumer as I have just finished paying off lots of bills.

Can I get away with something like this here: https://www.lowes.com/pd/GE-7000-BTU-Connected-Portable-Air-Conditioner/5000143963

or should I bite the bullet and grab one of these? https://www.costco.com/de'longhi-pinguino-smart-portable-air-conditioner-with-heat-and-eco-real-feel.product.100713983.html

Or is there something else I should be looking at?

... and should I put this in the main, larger room or in the bedroom? Or is that personal preference? Neither room gets direct sunlight - the bedroom faces south, the main room faces north.

I guess the reason I'm asking is clearly the Pinguino is going to be able to cool a 695 square foot space, but I don't know how much that matters when you don't have an open floor plan.

Thank you!
