Last year around November was our first year in the US on work visa and we went to HR to file the non-resident taxes since I didnât meet the substantial presence test.
I also enquired about ITIN for my family. They assured both can be done and they take the documents. Then a month passes and the person doesnât file it and my online account doesnât show anything. I call and follow up every week and finally they tell me Hrs corporate ITIN license was not renewed so none of them could file. Now I wait again and then the tax documents are sent. Again I donât get a copy and the online account isnât updated
I had to call a dozen times again and finally Iâm given a tracking and Iâm told, they are going on vacation and if I heard back from IRS I should call them and give any response I receive.
My wifeâs ITIN is approved and the kids ones are rejected. Another two months have passed by now and I canât get hold of them no matter what. Someone else calls me and gives me a copy of my tax filing. I see that I have been filed as resident and my world wide income hasnât been reported. So this is obviously incorrectly filed.
Finally today after trying multiple times I get hold of them and they tell me everything is correct. âNon citizens donât have to pay taxesâ so I obviously ask what is the non-resident tax form for? they get super angry and tells me they filed my taxes against their judgement and hangs up the call.
Now I donât know what to do. The reception wonât connect the call.
DM me the city and state your in and/or any paperwork that has the store number and tell me it i.e.12345 I'll lookup and respond with "higher up" peoples contact info.
