TW: Death
TLDR: what are the things you kept from a loved one that passed, and what did you wish you didn't have to go through.
I don't particularly want to discuss my medical circumstances, but I won't be around much longer, and just recently was informed of this. I initially was in shock and processing, and then my next thought was that I CANNOT leave things this way, for other people to be stuck dealing with. I'm still capable of mild physical activity for now, and I have the finances to get professional assistance if need be . My home, my car (which is currently broken down) and a car that a family member is loaning me, are just hoards. The borrowed vehicle will be simple, it's just some non-food items I haven't brought inside, but again, I can't leave it like that. What I wanted to ask was, what would you consider "worthy" of keeping for my loved ones. I have a collection of pristine condition "collectable stuffed animals" that are actually quite high in value (I checked) and I know some of my family might want one of two of them, or at the very least they can sell them. Should I just sell them now? Do I keep jewlery? I don't have a crazy amount because I don't really wear it. Do I keep my snowglobe collection? I'm an emotional hoarder, so I don't keep like, actual, undeniable garbage (food wrappers, beverage containers, etc) Everything is clean there's just SOOO much of it I've also never had a loved one pass, so I don't know what kinds of things family members like to keep. We're all sentimental people. I know they will struggle if I leave my belongings for them to go through. I would prefer to get the bulk of it gone before I go, so that it's easier. What kinds of things are treasures items, and what is just "stuff" I'm at a loss.
