My spouse and I have been Pagans for about twenty years, almost exclusively as solo practitioners. The area where we live has a large community that mostly turns over every one to two years. Through the process of being here longer than most people expect to we have found ourselves in a leadership position for the local Pagan group. This community generally has a significant level of Heathen representation, but latest cycle has a lot of people who are very new to the faith. While we're fairly knowledgeable about other paths and have some knowledge of Heathenry we've been getting a crash course in it from some experienced friends and pillaging Amazon. However, there are two questions that we could use a broader range of answers from people with deeper knowledge:
1) What resources are there to discuss Heathenry as a living tradition?
Reading the myths and historical reconstruction is interesting, but when it comes time to talk and make suggestions about how young Norse Pagans / Heathens can perform devotion or ritual we've found limited resources.
2) What do you wish someone had told you when you were new?
We've all had those moments in our paths where someone introduced a book or idea that we wish we'd heard about years earlier. What Heathenry specific things were there for you?
