Profile I've been looking at profile picture disappeared but said been online 1 day ago?

So this profile on Grindr I've been stalking had his profile picture to up yesterday and was up there all day. But then just now when I went to my favorites to see him his profile picture was gone but strangely it saying he was online a day ago instead of saying like minutes or hours ago if that makes since. Does that mean he paid for the incognito feature? Or can you set your profile picture to disappear at a certain time frame?
