I have just bought some Gucci loafers (not goodyear welted or the best made shoes, I know!).

I went to go and get a rubber protective sole put on the leather sole & heel today. The cobbler did the sole (so the front part of the shoe) but didn't do the heel.

He said I don't need the heel done because it's already got some rubber at the back of the heel. It's true - there's a rubber strip across the heel which takes up about 1/3rd of the back of the heel. Photo below shows what I'm trying to explain.

Is that definitely right? Just want to make sure. :) I do trust him, of course, but if I need to get the heel done I'd rather do it now.

I have googled and come up with different answers so thought you guys might be best placed to advise.

Thank you so much! Sorry, it's probably a really stupid question, I don't know much about shoes so just wanted to double check haha. Thanks again. :)

Thank you for putting my mind at rest - I'll leave the heel as it is then. :)
