Okay. Now bring the main engine back online. Slowly.

Damn it. We barely picked up any improvement. I thought my idea might work, and we spent days working on it. But we’re still looking at… well, three years and nine months to get back to charted space. That’s barely a week better than before we started this.

I’m sorry. I really thought this was going to be the day I fixed the engines. We were only supposed to be on an scientific exploration mission for a few months. Instead, it’s been almost two years already. I guess we’re lucky I got the engines going at all.

[sigh] I’m a horrible mom. Oh, I’m a good scientist, although apparently a mediocre engineer. I never should have made you and your sisters come with me on this trip. It’s not like we’ll starve. We have enough power to replicate all the food we need. But this isn’t how you kids were meant to spend these last few years.

Not that you’re kids anymore. You were eighteen before we left, and your sisters are both adults now, even though I keep losing track of time out here.

So there’s food. And entertrainment of sorts from the ship’s library. Between that, and me teaching all of you, I’ve kept your educations going.

But it’s not really fair to any of you. This is a long time for your sisters and you to spend cooped up with just your family. Honestly, it’s a long time for me too. It was okay when it was just supposed to be months. But years of just the four of us out here in deep space? With years more to go. And that’s assuming the engines don’t actually get worse.

[sigh] So, I have to ask. Have you, um… fucked your sisters?

I was going to go with "Lust in Space" for the title, although I've actually used that before for a somewhat similar story. This one also has some obvious possible sequels for it that will probably never get written. But I like to always leave the option there as a write a script, and I thought the main character talking about her children might make for some interesting dialogue.

All characters are eighteen by a safe margin. Anyone that wishes to record this should feel free to change it however they wish. Comments are always welcome, but please don't tag other people in them. I'd love for some actress to record this, but it should be her that finds this, and makes the call to record it without it being suggested to them.
