Preface: Iโm 42 and currently a 7 GHIN. I think I could get sub-5 and stay there as long as the body/mind and health allow. Never probably gonna be scratch or below until they let me move up a tee box due to length being my detriment from the tips.
Problem: I donโt wanna use the term mid-life crisis but it might help with the answers. I currently own and operate a landscaping company and honestly Iโm just burned out on the physical toll summers in the south take on my body (though it does keep me active and in decent shape) and the mental side of running my own business (pleasing customers, finding/keeping employees, constant maintenance on equipments, etc). So Iโve scaled back (income is not an issue) and made some small life changes.
Question: one of those changes was to start helping out part-time at my home club as an assistant clubhouse mgr and tournament director. My wife knows how much I love being around the game. Me and our 4 girls are basically always at the club whenever we can be. She brought up the idea of me pursuing it as a total career change and asked if Iโd ever considered becoming a PGA member ๐ค I had not. Other increasing my hours/responsibilities at my club what advantages/disadvantages would that bring to the table? Obviously, income from giving lessons. And what would that process truly entail? And where would/should I start if considered?
TIA
TL:DR - Should I try to become a golf pro? ๐
