Computer science and gis relations?

Post Body

I am currently a second year undergrad student majoring in geography with an emphasis in gis. Im required to take two computer science classes. I am currently taking one that teaches in java, but I’ve had a difficult time almost all semester trying to comprehend and understand computer science. I want to know and understand coding, while being able to put that I have reliable experience with some coding languages on future resumes. I was wondering if I should retake the course to better understand coding, or just go with the little that I do know. Is computer science needed for gis occupations?
