Hi everyone,
I live in the Frankfurt area and I'm planning on buying a second hand station-wagon car in about 2 months or so. I really do NOT know much about cars but I was thinking of looking at maybe a VW Passat Variant. Alternatives: Mazda 6, Ford Mondeo, Hyundai i40, Skoda Superb, Renault Talisman.
The car I will end up buying will probably be have a EURO 6 engine so now my main question: Am I safe, Diesel-banning wise, for the years to come if I buy a Euro 6 Diesel or should I better look for a Benziner? Is the Diesel a really more economic choice or what other reason would I have to look for a, probably, 2.0 TDI?
Finally, even if I am safe for now, I guess there's always the possibility of having problems when trying to sell it sometimes in the future if banning rules catch over to Euro 6 Diesel engines or to Diesel altogether, but I wanted to ask for your opinion as well. I saw some similar topics in the past but there weren't many replies, hence this discussions, hoping that maybe there's a clearer overview of what might happen the following years.
Thank you.
