Two days I left him waiting to make it seem like I had something to do. Then I messaged him because I really don't like making phone calls, but he seems to have a different opinion and instead of replying, he called me back. I asked if I could come over to pick up the umbrella I "forgot" there if he happened to be at home. He replied that he would gladly come for me, but I firmly declined, saying I would come myself. I brought some wine as a token of gratitude and headed to the bus.
I got off the bus and headed towards his place. I rang the doorbell, and he let me in. When I reached the top floor, he was already standing at the door with a smile and said, "I hope you didn't take the bus again." "Yeah, I did," I replied. "Well, I hope it breaks down again," he said. At that moment, I wasn't sure if it was irony or a wish. "May I come in?" I asked. "Of course, but I have a visitor, so don't be startled." "Oh, I won't disturb then. Can you please pass me the umbrella?" "No, just come in." "Alright, well, I brought you a little something as a thank you."
I proceeded inside, and there was a guy my age sitting at the table. "This is Adam, I'm helping him with school."
—I just realized I didn't tell you his name; it's Petr.—
"Nice to meet you," I said. "We still have some work to do here; you can join if you want," Petr suggested. "I probably shouldn't, I don't even have any study materials with me." "Wait, I'll lend you something; come with me."
I followed him to the library, where he handed me a book with a red cover, and then we went back to the dining room where Adam was. I sat at the table and opened the book – it was the gay Kamasutra, so all the ironies suddenly made sense. Adam and Petr started laughing at my slightly frightened expression. I didn't know what to do next. It felt like seconds had turned into hours, and time had somehow stood still.
Then all I remember is Adam saying, "Turn to page 63; that's what we're discussing today."
