Do you consider what your parents like when choosing a partner?
Post Body

Hey all,

When you are dating do you think it's very important to find someone that your parents like vs your own personal interest?

I sometimes feel like it is easy to find someone that might satisfy my parents but may or may not make me happier.

I sometimes feel like trying to compromise for both but it feels more like I have to be more selective when I choose someone.

I sometimes can see myself choosing someone of a a similar ethnic background, which I am okay with, but I do feel that not every person will necessarily fit what my parents might like. And someone my parents might prefer might not be someone I like the most..

What do you guys think? I think if my partner is someone they like, it's easier to get along with them. But I don't necessarily feel like my partner needs to be close.
