I’ve started to take interest in this institution when I was around 20 years old. I was only acquainted to it through readings though, as I had never met any mason by then.
Everything about it fascinated me: That an ancient institution spread across the globe managed to survive throughout History and still be in place to this day. That it is intended to promote virtue and to do good in society (I feel like the moral compass of our leaders often seem broken) That it draws to its ranks people that want to become the best version of themselves - Something I’ve never felt so in sync with than today. That it manages to be both traditional and progressive at the same time.
Nevertheless, I somehow always thought that I would need to have something special to bring to the table to ever think about reaching out to a local Lodge. Plus, the fact that no one in my family is part of it also made me feel like I could never belong there
For years I had completely forgotten about it, until I stumbled upon this sub recently.
I’m 34 years old now, and I somehow feel like I missed my window.
Do you guys think I should even try to reach out to a local lodge? (I live in France) Or do you think I should just forget about it.
