Post Body

Hello, everybody.

I am an American sign language interpreting student with an AA in communications and media. A lot of people do not know that over 50% of the English language depends solely on inflection to understand what somebody is saying. Even more people don't know how many of the viewers, customers, or business partners they have or are possibly missing out on due to not having correct closed captions on their online presence. Over 4% of the world's population experiences disabling hearing loss and it isn't just the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities that use closed captioning! There are people with auditory processing disorders who use them. There's people trying to learn English who use them. There are people who have sensory hypersensitivity issues and a million other reasons why people need accurate CCs! There's a whole group of people who you are alienating and losing out on by not CCing your videos.

That's where I come in. As somebody who uses CCs often, I know how awful auto-generated captions are. It's even worse when it's on videos that are informing us of important things that are happening in the world. I've seen auto-CCs say the complete opposite of what the person actually said during an important news cast.

Maybe you're a Vlogger wanting to reach a bigger audience. Maybe you're a youtuber who wants to be more accessible. Maybe you're a business that posts build timelines. Or maybe you just want to pre-record your Monday meetings while everyone's still remote anyways. Maybe you're a teacher who has a Deaf or Hard of Hearing student who needs them during remote recorded lectures.

How much i charge depends entirely on the length and the content of the video.

Short, "simple" (1-5 minute) videos - $10

Short, "detailed" (academic or technical) videos - $15

Simple videos (by the hour) - .50cents/minute

Detailed videos (by the hour) - $1/min or more depending on how technical things are.
