I got to thinking, a few things lead me to believe that we could be playing as a woman in sister location.
The first is watching a soap opera, and while there's no reason a man can't watch and enjoy a soap opera, but stereo-typically, one usually thinks a woman is watching a soap.
The comment from hand unit about "screws, bolts, and Hairpins" which sounds like a not so typical women's magazine (Like cosmo, with more metal)
Then there's also the fact that sister location turned the traditional formula of 3 male animatronics, one female animatronic, and a male guard on it's head. now we have three female stars, and one male star, could our nightguard be a different gender from what we normally are?
We also are never actually told our gender in this game, even at the end when Ennard uses the little girl's voice, she never actually calls us daddy.
It would also explain why our character falls so easily into the trap of the scooping room, since we wouldn't be Mr. Afton, we'd have no clue where the hatch would lead us (While Afton should have immediately known, what with his private room being across the hall.)
Let's also take into account that there are 2-3 houses being observed by Afton, and if plushtrap hallway is literally it's own thing, why would Afton have two houses so close together, and why would the crying child be brought to the other house, while his room is at the other? Perhaps separated parents?
Plus it would be another twist of fate that more of Afton's creations continue to kill his family.
Don't read TOO much into this, it was more of a shower thought.
