Yet advice requested on a starter still post
Post Body

Hi folks -

I'm looking to get into the hobby, starting mostly with rums, whiskeys, and brandies. I've been doing plenty of research, and feel ready to pull the trigger on a starter still. I'd like a quick sanity check on my plans, to make sure that I'm buying something that will meet my needs for now, and be something I can grow into.

I'll be welding a 2" triclamp ferrule onto my 8 gallon brew kettle with the intention of running on my stove to start with, and I'm currently looking at this column from Ebay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Stainless-Still-Tri-Clamp-Moonshine-Reflux-Distilling-Column-Fits-Beer-Kegs/274122922622

I guess the main concern I have with that is if the shotgun condenser will be long enough. Is that a reasonable starter column for pot stilling?

Does anyone know where I can get toggle clamps that I could weld into the pot for the purposes of securing the lid?
