Firefox hangs a lot

As the title says, FF keeps freezing/hanging. Every few minutes, the entire system freezes for a few seconds. I can still move the mouse around, but I can't click anything. Mouseclicks and keyboard strokes are registered, but the response is delayed until after the hang.

I'm using FF 62.0.3, 64-bit, on Windows 10. I've already tried re-installing firefox, and turning off hardware acceleration, but it doesn't seem to help. Using Spotify at the same time seems to make it worse, but it also happens when Spotify is closed.

I really don't know where to look next, so any help would be much appreciated.
