Help with handspinning single-ply worsted?

My electric wheel is great but for the life of me I cannot seem to spin above lace weight no matter what I try. Is it a tension issue with my hands? Any advice would be appreciated, I really want to spin up a single-ply gradient set I can use for a pullover. Thanks all!

Ah yes I see your problem. It’s very hard to keep proper tension when your hands are sticky. I recommend regular gloves changes. Also I’ll take a pink one please.
