So my 2500HD duramax shit the bed at 320k miles and I was originally going to put an engine in it. Time passed and I ended up buying a brand new 2023 F150 XLT 3.5L 4x4 sport this past Oct. I’ve racked up some miles on it already. I absolutely love the truck but towed the most weight today since I purchased the truck and didn’t love it. 9.6 mpg was even lower then I anticipated. Burned 44 gallons on a 426 mile trip. Anyone else go back up to a 3/4 or 1 ton after trying an F150? Similar load behind my Denali and I didn’t even know it was there and still pulled 18mpg. Rough weight is only like 8000-9000 pounds including the trailer. Just curious others experiences - Thanks
I don’t know why this is always a big debate. If you pull something regularly then get a 3/4 ton truck. If you pull something very heavy but not regular, get a 3/4.
No, 1/2 ton trucks are not meant for heavy hauling or regular moderate hauling.
I’ve got a small handy business, I almost never pull anything. If I do it’s a 12 foot trailer with some tile or lumber that I couldn’t get delivered. I may get a 6x12 enclosed trailer at some point but if I did I wouldn’t be pulling it often.
