The Napolese fleet arrives in Algiers uneventfully and the Tlemcen fleet and army to not catch news of their arrival in time to participate in the siege [2/20]. Nevertheless, Algiers is outfitted with a garrison of 73 swordsmen and 90 pikemen. They furthermore manage to recruit 170 light ranged infantry and 570 militia. Given the lack of any substantial Tlemcen naval force, Naples sets up their blockade without issue and their entire army is allowed to disembark without the threat of a surprise attack. The Napolese army discovers that water is relatively scarce so the decision is made not to prolong the siege and begin the assault as quickly as possible.
The 7 galleons and 15 cannons unleash their bombardment on the eastern side of Algiers' walls. The plan is a huge success and within only a short amount of time, several breaches occur in the walls [18/20]. Despite this however, the defenders are still ready and waiting for the fight with good morale [15/20]. The collapse of the walls kills 27 militia and 15 light ranged as well as 22 swordsmen and 31 pikemen. Naples moves to land 200 swordsmen and 100 light ranged infantry inside the harbour of Algiers. They fail to catch the garrison by surprise and are met by 50 pikes, 51 swords, 100 light ranged and 100 militia as they disembark [8/20]. The Tlemcen bombardment does damage [15/20] and kills 28 swordsmen and 31 light ranged. The Napolese light ranged reply with little effect [3/20] and their arrows fly straight into the shield of the swordsmen and kill only 10 militia. The hand to hand combat, however, goes incredibly well for Naples [20/20] as they kill 42 swordsmen, 48 pikemen and 42 militia to successfully form a safe landing area for other soldiers with only 27 Napolese swordsmen falling. The morale for the defenders is shattered at the sight of the captured harbour and the stream of enemy soldiers now pouring into it [2/20]. The commander of the city sees his men hopelessly outnumbered and, with their morale now shattered, orders his men back to the citadel where they formally surrender the city.
