Coming back to the game since beta – some thoughts while the game’s in maintenance.
Post Body

So I played the beta back when the game was first released, but back then I found it way too difficult to play the game solo. I think I ragequit around level 10 and washed my hands of it.

My friend (A V7) is super into the game now so I started playing with her, and I’m really happy with how the game has improved and evolved since then. It’s much more friendly for solo, and also now that it’s been out of beta for years, the areas are more populated so it’s easy to find people on the same quests as you are. Yesterday I helped take down two dolmens and it was a great feeling of accomplishment!

I also like how the game naturally moves you forward where you need to go – there was only one instance where I finished all my quests and was stuck on where to go, but while randomly in town the mage’s guild quest started up again when an NPC ran over, so that was handy.

I worry that my gaming style isn’t cut out for MMOs, though – I get overwhelmed quickly by how many quests there are but at the same time I’m a completionist and want to clear the entire area before I leave. I’m also not into crafting at all – I’ll make potions and food etc but I’m not into enchanting or blacksmithing at all and I’m concerned this is making the game too difficult me. All my armour and weapons were quest rewards or dropped items.

I’m a lvl 12 Nightblade Bosmer, bow-wielding. I’m still on Auridon right now focusing on exploring the map. Even though I’d call myself a casual gamer, I’m still really enjoying it. I don’t think I’d ever subscribe to ESO Plus just because I’m not as invested into it as other players are. I’m saving up for a mount because I find the inventory space just too small given the fact that you can’t easily fast travel to a base or store (WITHOUT spending gold on recalls) to drop your loot. In Oblivion/Skyrim I had camps all over the world I could stash my treasure in along the way.

Anyway, back to waiting impatiently for the game to come back up.

And the monkey really is awesome.
