On Friday at 5est we'll be having a battle between the skinjas and the greywaters over the Ironkeep.
Due to never really having more than 20 people on at a time i've invented this new system to make the battle "feel" bigger than it is. I will explain now.
Each person will represent a unit of men. If the person is carrying a sword, they're swordsmen. If they're on a horse, they're cavalry. If they're carrying a bow, archers. And so on. Each "unit" will represent an amount of troops, let's say, 20. Each "unit" will have a movement and an action each round of combat.
EDIT: This is effectively chess but with each person representing an army instead of just one guy. And to those who may be reading this and thinking that it will only be fun for generals..fighters will make a battle tactic just before the battle starts. The first "round" of combat will be moving into position or doing initial charges. After that, the units are free to do as they like, so long as it doesn't completely break the tactic (unless it's justified). This is normal combat RP just you represent the actions of a group rather than one person.
As you can tell, this battle will be done with RP combat. You'll do the fighting in **'s and a neutral body will determine the results of the attacks. So let's say a cavalry unit declares that they charged into a spear unit. The cavalry would roll (at a -1 due to fighting spears) and so would the spears. If, if the cavalry beat the spears, they'd roll a dice to see how many men died, every 5 points up is 1 dead. If the spears beat the cavalry, the reverse happens.
There will be a practical demonstration on the day and any questions you have, you can ask me in the comments here.
It's requested that if you're a member of the Ludds, Greywaters or Skinjas you get online at 5est on Friday to do this battle as it should be a lot of fun. Any other faction members can also volunteer to be a unit, so long as the Skinja and Greywater leaders agree.
As I said before, any questions you have, leave below.
