I live in North Carolina and I recently bought a new car which is financed (not sure finance part is relevant or not). The dealership gave me a temporary tag which is valid for one month (till March 8) and the permanent tags will be coming in around March 8.
I have to drive out of state to Maryland on Feb 24 for couple weeks will be driving back to North Carolina on March 9. This will be my route NC-VA-DC-MD.
I have couple of questions.
1) Is it allowed to travel out of state on temporary tag?
2) I told about my travel plans to dealership and they said I can travel on temporary tags. Also, even if I get pulled over on March 9, the cops can link to temporary tag to permanent one and would be able to see that my permanent tags is in mail and , so I would not get into trouble. Is this right?
