I’m an avid reader, but not the greatest writer so bear with me. Also I’ve only read Brothers K and Crime from Dostoevsky
Crime was not as grand, large, all encompassing, or multi dimensional like Brothers K.
Crime to me seemed more like a feel good story.
The beginning and end were gold, but the middle could’ve been trimmed.
I feel like Razumikhin and Sonia were convenient characters. Raskolnikov is a recluse but he so happens to live somewhere with a maid, and a friend who cares to keep showing up at his place, and a woman who shows he unfaltering love? This takes away from the story and isn’t so believable whereas every character in Brothers K made sense.
Some repetitive writing with waking up in a pale cold sweat and being magnanimous
There wasn’t a great conclusion with Luzhin
My point with Razumikhin and Sonia being overly convenient and not fitting in with the story are my biggest gripes. But all in all I loved the story and the ending with Raskolnikov and Svidrigailov who are antithetical characters was so rich and colorful
