Dosbox within a virtual machine

Hi, I've got Warcraft 1 up an running on a virtual machine that runs Windows XP. All seems to be fine except for the sound. It constantly stutters no matter how much I tweak the settings.
I can get it to go from a fast stutter to a slow stutter but that's about it. Has anyone had any luck with this setup? If so, do you have any suggestions?
