My dog is very velcro-ish in behavior, always has to be in my lap or at least the same room always. She has always slept in my bed with her pressed to my side (I don't roll).
She's 7 now and she has a harder time with the human bed, and her new habits are super sweet. She hops up onto my bed at the start of the night to cuddle. This lasts until I fall asleep or after around 30 minutes. She then hops down and crawls into her den under my side of the bed and sleeps there for the night. In the morning I still miraculously wake up to a doggy right next to me. A few mornings she wasn't there, and as soon as I stirred for the first time, she immediately crawled out and up to me.
It makes me feel quite loved that even with her aging she wants to find ways to keep our cuddle habits while respecting what she needs to sleep comfortably. I don't deserve this dog
