Strongholds and followers, has anyone been using it? whats it like in a long term game?

Strongholds and followers has been out for over a year now. My group is going to start using it. Does anyone have long term experience with this addition?
how is managing the stronghold
have you actually done any warfare or sieging?
did everyone in the party try and make a stronghold, or did 1 party member get one?
