Lightening flashed, illuminating the inky black night sky. A desperate rain fell from angry clouds, soaking the countryside and turning harvested farmland into fields of cold mud. The droplets sounded like a mad drummer falling on the wooden carriage's roof. Rory would have felt bad for the valet driving the horses on through the storm, but the old man had insisted they leave the warmth of the inn back in the small hamlet and continue their journey to the castle.
"The mistress will not wait, Monsieur Harrison," the valet had said, "We must reach the castle before nightfall. It is, important you meet the Duchess before the moon rises."
Rory Harrison leaned back in the rather opulent carriage and reached into his wool coat retrieving a gold pocket watch. It was just past noon but the sky was blacker than midnight. Returning the watch to his breast pocket, his fingers brushed against the handwritten letter that had started this whole adventure. He took out the letter, his green eyes scanning the cursive script for the hundredth time.
Dear Mons. Harrison,
You do not know me, but I am aware of you. I doubt you have ever heard of the valley of Carivegnon, but it is where my family and your ancestors are from. Long ago my family took the castle of Carivegnon from yours and since then, there has been a curse on this house. I hope this letter finds you well in New York. It is my shame I must ask this if you, a stranger, but please sir, come to Castle Carivegnon. Only a member of your bloodline may lift my curse.
I would like to know you better, Duchess Delacroix of Carivegnon
Rory returned the letter to his pocket and ran a hand through his dark brown hair. A month ago he'd been a flat broke gambler in his twenties. Now he was half a world away in a carriage worth more money than he'd ever seen on his way to meet a duchess his own age.
He didn't believe in all this hoodoo about curses, but a chance to get a fresh start was one worth taking. And if this woman thought he could help, he might as well try. Rory had learned the Duchess had recently lost her father to some disease and inherited his land and titles. Maybe she was just looking for some company?
In reality, the Duke had been slain in a duel with one if Rory's ancestors, a vampire hunter. That had been almost a hundred years ago. Since then, the young duchess had been scouring the earth looking for the last remaining member of Rory's clan. They were the only ones who could put an end to her rule.

Thank you for reading my long-winded prompt. I am looking for someone to play a haughty vampire stuck looking like a twenty something woman for over a hundred years. I think we can play this rp one of two ways, either she becomes smitten with the American when he arrives and we play very romantic. OR he realizes he has some sort of power over her and decides to set himself up as the new ruler of Carivegnon. I'm also open to your ideas as well!
