This summer had been like any other for Tyler. 12 weeks on the beach until going back to school for senior year. There were only 2 weeks left of the beach being open and Tyler knew this was his last summer as head lifeguard.

It was a Wednesday, and the weather projected afternoon thunderstorms, which meant a quite, easy day on the beach. The morning was sunny, but the storm clouds loomed in the distance.

Tyler had sent the other two lifeguards home for the day, in anticipation of the storm, and realizing that they would be happier on Thursday with having the unexpected day off

Sitting on the middle guard stand with his large umbrella open and his radio playing. Tyler couldn't believe it when he heard a car rolling down the gravel parking lot road way. A late model VW was coming up the road. He watched as it parked.

who would come to the beach on a day like today he thought as he gazed back out over still water.

Tyler heard the car VW's trunk shut, and glanced back over his shoulder into the parking lot. There she was, 5'5 and slim; her black hair and teal cover-up blowing in the breeze, cigarette between her lips. The lone-beach-goer trotted down the walkway nearest to the stand he was on. She got to the sand, kicked off her sandals and walk a little ways from his location and plopped her bag down in the sand.

Tyler was surprised that anyone would come to the beach with such a nasty storm on the horizon, but was thrilled that she was attractive. She turned in his direction, and Tyler gave a friendly wave….

This prompt is based on my time as a lifeguard during the summers in college. My idea is that the storm brings my character and yours closer together in shelter and to stay dry. The only dry places at this beach are under the umbrella on the lifeguard stand, in a car, or in the 4' x 6' guard shack. Once the storm gets underway, she tries to leave but her car wont start.
