"Oh, there's an empty place in my bones
That calls out for something unknown
The fame and praise come year after year
Does nothing for these empty tears"
-Jack Skellington, The Nightmare Before Christmas
It had been nearly a year since Jack had filled that empty place. As it turned out, he didn't need to hijack another holiday to find the excitement he needed. All he had to do was find love. He'd had no idea that love had already found him, he had just been blind to it. But she had opened his eyes.
Sally, the rag doll creation of Doctor Finklestein. She had loved Jack for some time, but she had been too nervous to show it. During last year's Christmas fiasco he had seen how much she cared about him.
They had been inseparable since then. Jack had more new ideas for this Halloween than ever before. Sally had finally found the companionship she was looking for. She kept Jack grounded and inspired him. He shared his passions with her and she with him. But something was still missing.
Being a skeleton and a rag doll, there were certain... parts missing. Parts that were required to take their physical relationship to the next level. Jack was at a loss. Finally, he went to the witches to ask for help. They'd been working on a solution for weeks. Halloween had come, keeping everyone busy with preparations.
The day after Halloween however, a messenger bat flew through the window of Jack's tower. Zero barked at it, waking Jack. He sat up, yawning and rubbing the sleep from his eye sockets. He glanced at Sally sleeping peacefully next to him and smiled. The bat fluttered around his head until he snatched the note from its grasp. It was from the witches - they had the answer to his problem. Would it be a potion? A spell? Would Jack and Sally's dream soon come true?
/u/myladyfreyja, as promised, a Nightmare Before Christmas prompt. ;)
It's Day 11 of Blane's 13 Days of Halloween, so here's something from my favorite Halloween/Christmas/Tim Burton/Danny Elfman movie.
If you missed any of the other days, you can find them here.
