You can pick and choose which roles you want, so when you read the script for the latest a24 quirky drama, you jumped at the opportunity to try something no one would expect. An odd-ball period drama about a royal family and their youngest daughter’s poor choice in men.

It was a small intimate crew, filming for a couple of month in the middle of nowhere, but with great names attached to the project and a great pay check, you were more than excited.

As the first day of shooting began, you walked into the period drawing room for the first scene. As always, makeup artists were on stand by to top-up your makeup before the first take, producers and the director were talking about motive and innocence for the performance, and the general hustle and bustle of production rushed on around, and it felt like home again. This is what you love doing.

That’s when you saw me.

A tall 6’3, dark haired, green eyed camera assistant. You’ve seen your fair share of actors and attractive people in your time in the industry, but this was different. There was something different about this guy, and you wanted to find out what.

“Morning! If you just follow me to your spot, I can show you your marks”. I say as the producers turn to great and discuss the scene with another actor.

Following silently, watching me, knowing this is going to be a shoot you won’t want to forget…
