The ESR Drake was the first but not the last of its class. With the unstopped destruction of our home planet, Earth, for all its resources we were left with no other choice but to find a new home. Thus the Universal Space Exodus Regimen was formed. USER was a global initiative collecting the brightest minds in math and science from across the world to design and build space faring cruisers to house billions of people for many generations until a permanent home is discovered. However, while a majority of the population was stationed in these giant cruisers, a small colony was designated to explore ahead in search of new fuel sources and methods of traveling through space.

I am Captain Frank Corvus, 40 years old and the third captain to command the Drake on it's journey through the galaxy. In the 150 years only a handful of systems have been properly checked, but our latest probe has pinged a system with potentially reliable resources that could be used to create a renewable and powerful energy source that could last centuries. As exciting as the news was it would still take decades to reach the destination. While the community was mostly focused on research and educating the next generation, the citizens of the Drake still lead lives like any other people. Socializing, dating, starting families. The methods may not be as traditional as it was on Earth, but it kept the communities happy.

I was not great with this aspect of my life. My commitment to my work and duty, plus my high up position of ship captain makes me uncomfortable socializing and potentially meeting a life mate. This didn't mean I wasn't lonely and didn't have needs. However, things were about to change for the better unexpectedly. One day I woke up feeling rather ill. I sent a message to sick bay and they sent a newly recruited nurse (your character) to check up on me.
