I’ve been toying around with digital minimalism for over a year now and I think there’s some very specific use cases for specific apps (dating apps and some messaging apps) which cause me to keep my existing iPhone in my life.
I have a light phone in addition to the smartphone. I think I want to use the iPhone on a time restricted basis for those few use cases, as an additional stationary computer to my existing laptop (primary computer). I think this system works well but at the same time I do find myself slowly creeping to take it off my desk in its stationary home and then it becomes my 24/7 phone and then the phone addiction comes back.
This seems a little silly in concept when isolated but within the context of digital minimalism I think this actually makes a lot of sense. I’m using my existing technology as tools for tasks that they are the best tools at, and the tasks themselves are in support of my values. What do you think? Anyone currently or previously done this before?
