before i start replaying diablo2, advice for barbarian weapon mastery?

going to replay Diablo 2 after almost 2 decade maybe.

Always played barbarian and all I remember is that whichever weapon mastery I chosenI never got good weapons for it and used different weapon.

I chose sword mastery? then I always got great axe and never decent sword so I had sword mastery but was running around with axe.

so is there advice for that? or should I pray for luck and buy swords on auction?

as I remember there is no going back like resetting skills. whatever i choose its permanent as well.

EDIT: my problem is choosing mastery but not being able to obtain decent weapons for that mastery
