Tips for toilet training
Post Body

So here's the context:

I have my little girl, Abby, who is 12 weeks old. When I first got her, I had taken a week and a half off of work to try and toilet train her before I returned to work. How very naive of me!

I've been reading a bit on different methods of training, from old school styles (taking outside regularly, praising on right behaviour, ignoring the bad behaviour), a firmer version of that involving leashed visits outside regularly, and what seems to be the most popular, crate training.

Unfortunately, I'm at work most of the day, so keeping up the consistency for the older style methods is impossible, and I can't have her in a crate all day.

She currently is restricted to the laundry and the study during the day with access to the backyard via doggydoor, both hard floors, with access to a couch, dog beds and plenty of toys. She is also put in the laundry at night with my older dog. During the night, no issues, no accidents when I get up in the morning. It's during the day when she has access to the bigger second room is where the issues are. It's not a huge amount, but it sets a precedent for her.

I guess I'm not looking for advice as such, more a 'what do you think' from others. I'd love to try crate training, but I'd only be able to implement that on the weekends and in the evenings and I'm not sure if that kind of inconsistency is helpful . Should I just stick with what I'm doing and hope she picks it up quick?
