How do y’all muster the courage to let people (family included) babysit your little ones?

Post Body

I’ve dealt with some serious trauma inducing events in early life and still haven’t 100% recovered from them. It’s affected my trust with even family and I haven’t gained the courage to let anyone babysit the kids. I want to date my wife every now and then, but I haven’t been able to because of this. Any words of courage would help. Thanks dads!

Edit: before it gets too far, I’m already getting help as far as the trauma. Thanks for that advice!

We called a babysitting agency to find the person. It's meant for people who are traveling, so it's expensive, but it let us try a few people who had childcare experience, certifications, and background checks. We also stayed home on the first visits so we could get a sense of them with the kids. Once we found the person we liked we just started paying them directly.

I think it was $30 per hour vs. the $20 per hour we pay her now.
